Waikanae Beach Kids early childcare centre

Waikanae Beach Kids is a small nurturing childcare centre nestled away in the beach community. We are licenced for only 25 children which ensures there is no hustle and bustle like other services.

Our teachers work full-time which ensures they are able to build reciprocal and respectful relationships with your child to extend their individual learning. Our teaching staff provide a family environment where children feel safe and comfortable.

Being a small centre allows us to offer fortnightly gymnastic trips to the Paraparaumu gymnastic club where children explore and further develop their large motor skills. The centre has its own Plunket approved van to ensure your child is able to get out in the community to support their learning.

We are also proud to provide a purpose built nursery for just five children under the age of two years. This ensures your child gets the best possible care and education, which is age appropriate and meets their individual needs.

Meet our childcare teachers...

Tameka – Head Kaiako
Kia Ora whanau, my name is Tameka. I am part of the teaching team here at Waikanae Beach Kids and my role is the head teacher.
I studied through Te Rito Maioha where I gained a Bachelor of Teaching (ECE). I live in Levin with my partner and our two dogs. I have been in ECE for a few years now and it is an absolute passion of mine – I love coming to work each day. One of the best things about being an early childhood teacher is seeing the influence and impact we have on our tamariki. It is by far one of the most rewarding jobs ever. Some of my greatest interests are walking, being with friends and family, visiting the beach and teaching our little people.

Teesha - Nursery Kaiako
Kia Ora! My name is Teesha and I am the nursery kaiako here at Waikanae Beach Kids. I graduated with my degree in early childhood education from Whitiriea in 2019. Since then I have worked locally but joined the WBK team in October 2021. I have worked with a range of ages through my years of experience but have found that I am passionate about our littlest humans. I am a positive, happy, laid back person which is why I enjoy providing a learning environment which reflects this. My hopes for whānau is that they feel a sense of belonging when they come to our centre, feel empowered and supported to lead their tamariki learning and overall be comfortable to leave their beautiful babies in our care. My philosophy heavily surrounds providing nga pēpi with reciprocal relationships where they can trust, feel loved and confidently explore. I can’t wait to meet you and your whānau ❤️
I am mum to a fantastic daughter who keeps me busy at weekends as we explore our beautiful community here on the Kapiti Coast. I look forward to developing relationships with all involved here at Waikanae Beach Kids, tamariki, their whānau, and my fellow educators.
